Chicken From Heaven

What has been made political, let us make theological. For who can stand to live with choices such as “how would you like your chicken? Gay or straight?”

There is really no such thing as a gay or straight sandwich. There is also no such thing as a restaurant that is not utterly reliant upon the hand of God’s provision. So, the President has a point. You didn’t really build that, at least not without help. And God, by his grace, continues to bring a harvest (although a diminished one this drought stricken year) so that we all get to eat chicken sandwiches. And for that we should be filled with gratitude and humility.

It is God who brings the harvest, God who supplies the rain. And that goes for all restaurant CEOs.

And it is this provision of God that is a witness to God. As Paul says to a crowd: “He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness” (Acts 14:17).

While I agree with Dan Cathy, I’m afraid I cannot trawl through a list of companies checking off whether or not they agree with me on my views of marriage. But I can give thanks for God’s provision through them (and even thank God for the gifts he has given CEOs who disagree with me). And I can also point out that God is the one who provides for us, the same God who saves us from our arrogance and sin.
