I am sure that I know some of you personally, but there are many readers whom I have never met. I know this, in part, because of the places you live. The top ten countries that readers are from (or living in) are:

I am sure HQ will never reach any heights as far as popularity is concerned. I am very happy if I get around 700 page views in a month. I don’t usually choose topics to write about based on how popular they might be. My most popular post by far is about an obscure French philosopher, Alain Badiou (you can read it here). I am not sure why it is so popular. Perhaps you could read it and let me know.
There are predictably popular topics to write about, but I tend not to focus on them. For example, being a Christian blogger I know that I can get a lot of hits for a post about gay marriage or abortion. Although I have written about these issues I know blog posts are not the best way to engage someone of a different opinion so I tend not to bother. The other area I attempt to remain silent on is politics. Sometimes I want to weigh in, but hold back. This is mostly because political blogging is so reactionary and I know that my instant reaction is not always right nor would it be well put.
The most important motivation for my blog is honoring Christ. And that means watching what I say and it means making Him the most important topic. I don’t always succeed in this, but I pray that HQ is a God-honoring blog, an encouragement for believers and a challenge for unbelievers.
